  1. Ps. 118:1, 5, 6 (to :), 13, 14, 17-19, 22, 24

1O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.

... 5I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.

6The Lord is on my side; I will not fear:

... 13Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the Lord helped me.

14The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

... 17I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

18The Lord hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.

19Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord:

... 22The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

... 24This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

  2. Gen. 17:1-5, 7-9, 15-17, 19

1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

2And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

3And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,

4As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

... 7And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

8And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

9And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.

15And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.

16And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

17Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?

... 19And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

  3. Matt. 14:22-32

22And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

23And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

24But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

25And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

32And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

  4. Mark 8:14-26

14Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

15And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

16And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

17And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?

18Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

20And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

22And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw aught.

24And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

25After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

26And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

  5. I John 4:1 (to :), 13

1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:

... 13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

  6. I John 2:28 abide (to 5th ,)

28abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence,

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures

by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 15:25-30

Christians rejoice in secret beauty and bounty, hidden from the world, but known to God. Self-forgetfulness, 27Trustworthy beneficencepurity, and affection are constant prayers. Practice not profession, understanding not belief, gain the ear and right hand of omnipotence and 30they assuredly call down infinite blessings.

  2. SH 551:24-28 Darkness (to 2nd .)

Darkness and doubt encompass thought, so long as it bases creation on materiality. From a material standpoint, “Canst thou 27by searching find out God?” All must be Mind, or else all must be matter. Neither can produce the other.

  3. SH 13:20-24

If we pray to God as a corporeal person, this will 21prevent us from relinquishing the human doubts and Corporeal ignorancefears which attend such a belief, and so we cannot grasp the wonders wrought by infi-24nite, incorporeal Love, to whom all things are possible.

  4. SH 209:5-8, 10-14

Mind, supreme over all its formations and governing 6them all, is the central sun of its own systems of ideas, Allness of Truththe life and light of all its own vast creation; and man is tributary to divine Mind.

The world would collapse without Mind, without the in-telligence which holds the winds in its grasp. Neither 12philosophy nor skepticism can hinder the march of the Science which reveals the supremacy of Mind. The im-manent sense of Mind-power enhances the glory of Mind.

  5. SH 130:9, 26-32

It is unwise to doubt if reality is in perfect harmony with God, divine Principle, — if Science, when understood and demonstrated, will 12destroy all discord, — since you admit that God is om-nipotent; for from this premise it follows that good and its sweet concords have all-power.

If thought is startled at the strong claim of Science 27for the supremacy of God, or Truth, and doubts the su-All evil unnaturalpremacy of good, ought we not, contrari-wise, to be astounded at the vigorous claims 30of evil and doubt them, and no longer think it natural to love sin and unnatural to forsake it, — no longer imagine evil to be ever-present and good absent?

  6. SH 306:7 (only), 8-10, 18

Life demonstrates Life. ... If God, who is Life, were parted for a 9Divinity not childlessmoment from His reflection, man, during that moment there would be no divinity reflected.

But man cannot be sep-arated for an instant from God, if man reflects God. Thus Science proves man’s existence to be intact.

  7. SH 368:2-4, 5, 14

The 3Real and counterfeitconfidence inspired by Science lies in the fact that Truth is real and error is unreal. ... Divine Science insists that 6time will prove all this. Both truth and error have come nearer than ever before to the apprehension of mortals, and truth will become still clearer as error is self-9destroyed.

When we 15come to have more faith in the truth of being than we have in error, more faith in Spirit than in matter, more faith in living than in dying, more faith in God than in man, 18then no material suppositions can prevent us from healing the sick and destroying error.

  8. SH 397:12-22

When an ac-cident happens, you think or exclaim, “I am hurt!” Your thought is more powerful than your words, more 15powerful than the accident itself, to make the injury real.

Now reverse the process. Declare that you are not hurt 18and understand the reason why, and you will find the ensuing good effects to be in exact proportion to your disbelief in physics, and your fidelity to divine meta-21physics, confidence in God as All, which the Scriptures declare Him to be.

  9. SH 260:7-20

The conceptions of mortal, erring thought must give way to the ideal of all that is perfect and eternal. Through 9Spiritual discoverymany generations human beliefs will be attain-ing diviner conceptions, and the immortal and perfect model of God’s creation will finally be seen as 12the only true conception of being.

Science reveals the possibility of achieving all good, and sets mortals at work to discover what God has already 15done; but distrust of one’s ability to gain the goodness desired and to bring out better and higher results, often hampers the trial of one’s wings and ensures failure at the 18outset.

Mortals must change their ideals in order to improve Requisite change of our idealstheir models.

  10. SH 134:21-26, 28

21    The true Logos is demonstrably Christian Science, the natural law of harmony which overcomes discord, — not Basis of miraclesbecause this Science is supernatural or pre-24ternatural, nor because it is an infraction of divine law, but because it is the immutable law of God, good. ... There is divine authority for believing in the superiority of 30spiritual power over material resistance.

  11. SH 234:4-12

Whatever inspires with wisdom, Truth, or Love — be it song, sermon, or Science — blesses the human family 6Crumbs of comfortwith crumbs of comfort from Christ’s table, feeding the hungry and giving living waters to the thirsty.

9    We should become more familiar with good than with evil, and guard against false beliefs as watchfully as we Hospitality to health and goodbar our doors against the approach of thieves 12and murderers.

  12. SH 418:5, 16

Stick to the truth of being in contradistinction to the 6error that life, substance, or intelligence can be in matter. Christian pleadingPlead with an honest conviction of truth and a clear perception of the unchanging, unerr-9ing, and certain effect of divine Science. Then, if your fidelity is half equal to the truth of your plea, you will heal the sick.

What-ever the belief is, if arguments are used to destroy it, 18the belief must be repudiated, and the negation must ex-tend to the supposed disease and to whatever decides its type and symptoms. Truth is affirmative, and confers 21harmony. All metaphysical logic is inspired by this sim-ple rule of Truth, which governs all reality. By the truthful arguments you employ, and especially by the 24spirit of Truth and Love which you entertain, you will heal the sick.

  13. SH 495:14

When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling 15steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His Steadfast and calm trust likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and 18calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, 21instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence dis-24cord with harmony.
