  1. Ps. 19:1-4 (to .), 7, 8 (to :), 11 in

1The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.

2Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

3There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

4Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

... 7The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart:

11 ... in keeping of them there is great reward.

  2. Dan. 6:1, 2 (to :), 3 (to ;), 4 (to 2nd ;), 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 16, 19, 21, 22 (to ;), 23

    1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

2And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first:

    ... 3Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him;

    4Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault;

... 6Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.

7All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

... 9Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

11Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

... 13Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

... 16Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

19Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.

... 21Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

    22My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me;

... 23Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

  3. Dan. 10:19 O (to 1st .)

19O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong.

  4. Hos. 11:1, 3, 4, 9 (to 2nd :), 10 (to 2nd :), 11

1When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

... 3I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

4I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.

9I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee:

... 10They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion:

... 11They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the Lord.

  5. Hos. 14:5-7, 9 (to :)

5I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

6His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

7They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

... 9Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them:

  6. Rom. 13:8, 9 if, 10 2nd love, 11 now, 12

8Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

9 ... if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10 ... love is the fulfilling of the law.

11 ... now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

12The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

  7. Luke 5:1, 2 (to :), 3-7

1And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2And saw two ships standing by the lake:

... 3And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

4Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

7And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

  8. Gal. 5:18 if, 22, 23, 25

18if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

... 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

... 25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 380:22-1

Many years ago the author made a spiritual discov-ery, the scientific evidence of which has accumulated to 24A higher discoveryprove that the divine Mind produces in man health, harmony, and immortality. Gradu -ally this evidence will gather momentum and clearness, 27until it reaches its culmination of scientific statement and proof. Nothing is more disheartening than to believe that there is a power opposite to God, or good, and that 30God endows this opposing power with strength to be used against Himself, against Life, health, harmony.

Every law of matter or the body, supposed to govern 381 381:1man, is rendered null and void by the law of Life, God.

  2. SH 503:12-15

Divine Science, the Word of God, saith to the darkness upon the face of error, “God is All-in-all,” and the light of ever-present Love illumines 15the universe.

  3. SH 34:18-20

18    Through all the disciples experienced, they became more spiritual and understood better what the Master had Fellowship with Christtaught.

  4. SH 35:2

Convinced 3of the fruitlessness of their toil in the dark and wakened by their Master’s voice, they changed their methods, turned away from material things, and cast their net on the right 6side. Discerning Christ, Truth, anew on the shore of time, they were enabled to rise somewhat from mortal sensuousness, or the burial of mind in matter, into new-9ness of life as Spirit.

  5. SH 381:17

In infinite Life and Love there is no sickness, sin, nor 18death, and the Scriptures declare that we live, move, and have our being in the infinite God.

  6. SH 119:27-9

As astron-omy reverses the human perception of the movement of the solar system, so Christian Science re-30verses the seeming relation of Soul and body and makes body tributary to Mind. Thus it is with man, who is but the humble servant of the restful Mind, though it 120 120:1seems otherwise to finite sense. But we shall never under-stand this while we admit that soul is in body or mind in 3matter, and that man is included in non-intelligence. Soul, or Spirit, is God, unchangeable and eternal; and man coexists with and reflects Soul, God, for man is God’s 6image.

Science reverses the false testimony of the physical senses, and by this reversal mortals arrive at the funda-9Reversal of testimonymental facts of being.

  7. SH 283:4-7, 11-20

Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious 6Source of all life and actionaction. Mind is the same Life, Love, and wis-dom “yesterday, and to-day, and forever.” ... Principle is absolute. It 12admits of no error, but rests upon understanding.

But what say prevalent theories? They insist that Life, or God, is one and the same with material life so-15called. They speak of both Truth and error as mind, and of good and evil as spirit. They claim that to be life which is but the objective state of material sense, — 18such as the structural life of the tree and of material man, — and deem this the manifestation of the one Life, God.

  8. SH 240:10, 19-22, 24

In the order of Science, in which the Principle is above what it reflects, all is one grand concord. Change this 12Perpetual motionstatement, suppose Mind to be governed by matter or Soul in body, and you lose the key-note of being, and there is continual discord. Mind is 15perpetual motion. Its symbol is the sphere. The rota-tions and revolutions of the universe of Mind go on eternally.

18If mortals are not progressive, past failures Progress demandedwill be repeated until all wrong work is ef-21faced or rectified. If at present satisfied with wrong-doing, we must learn to loathe it. ... Remember that mankind must sooner or later, either by suffering or by Science, be convinced of the error that is to be overcome.

  9. SH 536:11

If man’s spiritual 12The fall of errorgravitation and attraction to one Father, in whom we “live, and move, and have our be-ing,” should be lost, and if man should be governed by 15corporeality instead of divine Principle, by body instead of by Soul, man would be annihilated. Created by flesh instead of by Spirit, starting from matter instead of from 18God, mortal man would be governed by himself. The blind leading the blind, both would fall.

  10. SH 454:11, 18-19, 29-31

That evil or matter has neither intelligence nor power, 12is the doctrine of absolute Christian Science, and this is the great truth which strips all disguise from error.

Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way.

The superiority of spir-30itual power over sensuous is the central point of Chris -tian Science.

  11. SH 514:26

Understanding the control which Love held over all, 27Daniel felt safe in the lions’ den, and Paul proved the Creatures of God usefulviper to be harmless. All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harm-30less, useful, indestructible. A realization of this grand verity was a source of strength to the ancient worthies. 515 515:1It supports Christian healing, and enables its possessor to emulate the example of Jesus. “And God saw that 3it was good.”

  12. SH 515:21 Man

21Man is the family name for all ideas, — the sons and daughters of God. All that God imparts moves in accord with Him, reflecting good-24ness and power.

  13. SH 516:9

9    God fashions all things, after His own likeness. Life is reflected in existence, Truth in truthfulness, God in Love imparts beautygoodness, which impart their own peace and 12permanence. Love, redolent with unselfish-ness, bathes all in beauty and light. The grass beneath our feet silently exclaims, “The meek shall inherit the 15earth.” The modest arbutus sends her sweet breath to heaven. The great rock gives shadow and shelter. The sunlight glints from the church-dome, glances into the 18prison-cell, glides into the sick-chamber, brightens the flower, beautifies the landscape, blesses the earth. Man, made in His likeness, possesses and reflects God’s domin-21ion over all the earth. Man and woman as coexistent and eternal with God forever reflect, in glorified quality, the infinite Father-Mother God.

  14. SH 471:13-17, 18-19

The facts of divine Science should be admitted, — although the evidence as to these facts is not supported 15by evil, by matter, or by material sense, — because the evidence that God and man coexist is fully sustained by spiritual sense. ... God is infinite, therefore ever present, and there is no other power nor presence.

  15. SH 536:8

The divine understanding reigns, 9is all, and there is no other consciousness.
