- Ps. 57:1-3 (to 1st .)
1Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
2I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
3He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up.
- Isa. 59:19 When
19When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
- Neh. 1:1-4 it, 11 (to :)
1it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
2That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
3And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
4¶ And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
11O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name:
- Neh. 2:4 (to ?), 5, 6 So (to ;)
4Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request?
... 5And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.
6 ... So it pleased the king to send me;
- Neh. 6:15
15¶ So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.
- Job 3:2, 3, 23, 25
2And Job spake, and said,
3Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
... 23Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?
... 25For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
- Job 42:10
10And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
- Nah. 1:3 3rd the, 7, 9, 15 (to !)
3the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
... 7The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
... 9What do ye imagine against the Lord? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
... 15Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace!
- John 6:15-21, 35 Jesus (to :), 37 him, 47, 50, 63
15¶ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
16And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
17And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
18And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
19So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
20But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
21Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.
35Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life:
37 ... him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
... 47Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
... 50This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
... 63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
- Mark 6:7, 12, 13
7¶ And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
... 12And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
13And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
- John 4:35
35Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
- Ps. 35:10, 11, 17, 24 (to ;), 25 2nd let, 27 3rd Let, 28 my
10All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?
11False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
... 17Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.
... 24Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness;
25 ... let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
27 ... Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
28 ... my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
- Heb. 12:12 lift, 13
12lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
13And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy
- SH 273:10-12, 18, 24-1
Jesus walked on the waves, fed the multitude, healed the sick, and raised the dead in direct opposition to material laws. His acts were 27the demonstration of Science, overcoming the false claims of material sense or law.
Science shows that material, conflicting mortal opin-30ions and beliefs emit the effects of error at all times, but this atmosphere of mortal mind cannot be destructive to morals and health when it is opposed promptly and per-274274:1sistently by Christian Science.
- SH 415:24
- SH 223:14-21, 25-31
The question, “What is Truth,” convulses the world. 15Many are ready to meet this inquiry with the assurance The question of the ageswhich comes of understanding; but more are blinded by their old illusions, and try to “give 18it pause.” “If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
Peals that should startle the slumbering thought from its erroneous dream are partially unheeded; but the last 27Heralds of Sciencetrump has not sounded, or this would not be so. Marvels, calamities, and sin will much more abound as truth urges upon mortals its resisted 30claims; but the awful daring of sin destroys sin, and foreshadows the triumph of truth.
- SH 243:25-6
Truth has no consciousness of error. Love has no Annihilation of errorsense of hatred. Life has no partnership 27with death. Truth, Life, and Love are a law of annihilation to everything unlike themselves, because they declare nothing except God.
30 Sickness, sin, and death are not the fruits of Life. They are inharmonies which Truth destroys. Perfection does not animate imperfection. Inasmuch as God is 244 244:1good and the fount of all being, He does not produce moral or physical deformity; therefore such deformity is 3Deformity and perfectionnot real, but is illusion, the mirage of error. Divine Science reveals these grand facts. On their basis Jesus demonstrated Life, never 6fearing nor obeying error in any form.
- SH 119:17-18, 21, 27-1
In one sense God is identical with nature, but this na-18ture is spiritual and is not expressed in matter. ... God is natural good, and is repre -sented only by the idea of goodness; while evil should be regarded as unnatural, because it is opposed to the nature 24of Spirit, God.
As astron-omy reverses the human perception of the movement of the solar system, so Christian Science re-30verses the seeming relation of Soul and body and makes body tributary to Mind. Thus it is with man, who is but the humble servant of the restful Mind, though it 120 120:1seems otherwise to finite sense.
- SH 396:26
Keep distinctly in 27thought that man is the offspring of God, not of man; that man is spiritual, not material; that Soul is Spirit, outside of matter, never in it, never giving the body life 30and sensation. It breaks the dream of disease to under-stand that sickness is formed by the human mind, not by matter nor by the divine Mind.
- SH 487:3-6, 8
3 Life is deathless. Life is the origin and ultimate of man, never attainable through death, but gained by walk-Exercise of Mind-facultiesing in the pathway of Truth both before and 6after that which is called death. ... There is more Science in the perpetual 9exercise of the Mind-faculties than in their loss. Lost they cannot be, while Mind remains. The apprehension of this gave sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf cen-12turies ago, and it will repeat the wonder.
- SH 390:20-29, 32
Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon 21the thought. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin. You have no 24law of His to support the necessity either of sin or sick-ness, but you have divine authority for denying that neces-sity and healing the sick.
27 “Agree to disagree” with approaching symptoms of chronic or acute disease, whether it is cancer, consump-Treatment of diseasetion, or smallpox. Rise in the conscious strength of the 391 391:1spirit of Truth to overthrow the plea of mortal mind, alias matter, arrayed against the supremacy of Spirit. 3Blot out the images of mortal thought and its beliefs in sickness and sin. Then, when thou art delivered to the judgment of Truth, Christ, the judge will say, “Thou 6art whole!”
- SH 143:26-5
Mind is the grand creator, and there can be no power 27except that which is derived from Mind. If Mind was Impossible coalescencefirst chronologically, is first potentially, and must be first eternally, then give to Mind the 30glory, honor, dominion, and power everlastingly due its holy name. Inferior and unspiritual methods of healing may try to make Mind and drugs coalesce, but the two will 144 144:1not mingle scientifically. Why should we wish to make them do so, since no good can come of it?
