The Bible
  1. Ps. 33:4 the, 5 the, 6, 8-12 2nd let, 18

4the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.

5 ... the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

6By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

8 ... let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

10The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

11The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

12Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

    ... 18Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

  2. Jer. 32:36 now (to 1st ,), 38 they, 41 (to 2nd ,)

36now therefore thus saith the Lord,

38 ... they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

... 41Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good,

  3. I Sam. 16:1, 3 2nd thou, 4 (to .), 5-7 3rd And, 10-13 Jesse (to 1st .)

1And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Beth–lehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

3 ... thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.

4And Samuel did that which the Lord spake, and came to Beth–lehem.

5 ... And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

6And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him.

7But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

10Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The Lord hath not chosen these.

11And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

12And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

13Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward.

  4. II Chron. 16:13 (to ,)

13And Asa slept with his fathers,

  5. II Chron. 17:1, 3-6, 10, 11 (to 2nd ,), 12

1And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

    ... 3And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

4But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

5Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

6And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

10And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

11Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks,

12And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.

  6. Matt. 6:28 why, 30

28why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

... 30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

  7. Luke 9:37-43 on (to .)

37on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.

38And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child.

39And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.

40And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.

41And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.

42And as he was yet a-coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

43And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God.

  8. Phil. 4:1 my, 4, 7 the, 9, 13, 19 my, 23 (to 1st .)

1my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

... 4Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

7 ... the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

... 9Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

... 13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

19 ... my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

... 23The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 339:7-10 Since

Since God is All, there is no room for His unlikeness. God, Spirit, alone created all, and called it 9Evil not produced by Godgood. Therefore evil, being contrary to good, is unreal, and cannot be the product of God.

  2. SH 22:3-12

3    Vibrating like a pendulum between sin and the hope of forgiveness, — selfishness and sensuality causing con-Moral retrogressionstant retrogression, — our moral progress will 6be slow. Waking to Christ’s demand, mortals experience suffering. This causes them, even as drown -ing men, to make vigorous efforts to save themselves; and 9through Christ’s precious love these efforts are crowned with success.

“Work out your own salvation,” is the demand of 12Life and Love, for to this end God worketh with you.

  3. SH 209:31-32

Spiritual sense is a conscious, constant capacity to un-derstand God.

  4. SH 283:13-24

But what say prevalent theories? They insist that Life, or God, is one and the same with material life so-15called. They speak of both Truth and error as mind, and of good and evil as spirit. They claim that to be life which is but the objective state of material sense, — 18such as the structural life of the tree and of material man, — and deem this the manifestation of the one Life, God.

21    This false belief as to what really constitutes life so detracts from God’s character and nature, that the true Spiritual structuresense of His power is lost to all who cling to 24this falsity.

  5. SH 450:27

27    Who, that has felt the perilous beliefs in life, substance, and intelligence separated from God, can say that there False claims annihilatedis no error of belief? Knowing the claim of 30animal magnetism, that all evil combines in the belief of life, substance, and intelligence in matter, electricity, animal nature, and organic life, who will deny 451 451:1that these are the errors which Truth must and will an-nihilate? Christian Scientists must live under the con-3stant pressure of the apostolic command to come out from the material world and be separate. They must re -nounce aggression, oppression and the pride of power. 6Christianity, with the crown of Love upon her brow, must be their queen of life.

  6. SH 186:7

Erring human mind-forces can work only evil under whatever name or pretence they are em-9ployed; for Spirit and matter, good and evil, light and darkness, cannot mingle.

  7. SH 204:3-14, 15-19, 30 2nd The

3    All forms of error support the false conclusions that there is more than one Life; that material history is as Spirit the only intelligence and substancereal and living as spiritual history; that mortal 6error is as conclusively mental as immortal Truth; and that there are two separate, an-tagonistic entities and beings, two powers, — namely, 9Spirit and matter, — resulting in a third person (mortal man) who carries out the delusions of sin, sickness, and death.

12    The first power is admitted to be good, an intelligence or Mind called God. The so-called second power, evil, is the unlikeness of good. The third power, mortal man, is a supposed mixture of the first and second antagonistic powers, in-telligence and non-intelligence, of Spirit and matter.

18    Such theories are evidently erroneous. They can never stand the test of Science.

30The error, which says that Soul is in body, Mind is in matter, and good is in evil, must unsay it and cease from such 205 205:1utterances; else God will continue to be hidden from hu-manity, and mortals will sin without knowing that they 3are sinning, will lean on matter instead of Spirit, stumble with lameness, drop with drunkenness, consume with dis-ease, — all because of their blindness, their false sense 6concerning God and man.

  8. SH 186:11

Evil is a negation, because it is the absence of truth. 12It is nothing, because it is the absence of something. It Evil negative and self-destructive is unreal, because it presupposes the absence of God, the omnipotent and omnipresent. 15Every mortal must learn that there is neither power nor reality in evil.

  9. SH 514:26

Understanding the control which Love held over all, 27Daniel felt safe in the lions’ den, and Paul proved the Creatures of God usefulviper to be harmless. All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harm-30less, useful, indestructible. A realization of this grand verity was a source of strength to the ancient worthies. 515 515:1It supports Christian healing, and enables its possessor to emulate the example of Jesus. “And God saw that 3it was good.”

  10. SH 358:9

9    Christian Science, understood, coincides with the Scriptures, and sustains logically and demonstratively Scientific and Biblical factsevery point it presents. Otherwise it would 12not be Science, and could not present its proofs. Christian Science is neither made up of contra-dictory aphorisms nor of the inventions of those who scoff 15at God. It presents the calm and clear verdict of Truth against error, uttered and illustrated by the prophets, by Jesus, by his apostles, as is recorded throughout the 18Scriptures.

  11. SH 216:11

The understanding that the Ego is Mind, and that 12there is but one Mind or intelligence, begins at once to Servants and mastersdestroy the errors of mortal sense and to supply the truth of immortal sense. This understand -15ing makes the body harmonious; it makes the nerves, bones, brain, etc., servants, instead of masters. If man is governed by the law of divine Mind, his body is in sub-18mission to everlasting Life and Truth and Love. The great mistake of mortals is to suppose that man, God’s image and likeness, is both matter and Spirit, both good 21and evil.

  12. SH 306:25

Undisturbed amid the jarring testimony of the material senses, Science, still enthroned, is unfolding 27to mortals the immutable, harmonious, divine Principle, — is unfolding Life and the universe, ever present and eternal.

  13. SH 506:10

Through divine Science, Spirit, God, unites under-standing to eternal harmony. The calm and exalted 12Exalted thoughtthought or spiritual apprehension is at peace. Thus the dawn of ideas goes on, forming each successive stage of progress.
