The Bible
  1. John 1:1, 14, 18

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

18No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

  2. I John 5:7 there, 20 (to 1st .)

there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

... 20And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ.

  3. Isa. 55:11

11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

  4. Luke 19:10 the

the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

  5. Luke 4:14 Jesus, 32, 40, 43, 44

Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

32And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

40Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

... 43And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

44And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

  6. Luke 9:1, 2, 6

1Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

2And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

... 6And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

  7. Luke 10:1, 2, 8, 9, 25-37

1After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

2Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

... 8And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

9And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

25And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

  8. Rom. 13:8, 9 6th Thou, 10

8Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

... Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

  9. Zech. 8:16, 17 (to ;)

16These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

    17And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour;

  10. Matt. 5:43-45 (to :), 48

43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

    44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:

... 48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 497:3 As

As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life.

  2. SH 350:24

“The Word was made flesh.” Divine Truth must be known by its effects on the body as well as on the mind, The divine life-linkbefore the Science of being can be demon-27strated. Hence its embodiment in the incar-nate Jesus, — that life-link forming the connection through which the real reaches the unreal, Soul rebukes sense, and 30Truth destroys error.

  3. SH 46:7

The divine Spirit, which identified Jesus thus centuries 9ago, has spoken through the inspired Word and will speak through it in every age and clime. It is revealed to the receptive heart, and is again seen casting out evil and 12healing the sick.

  4. SH 466:28

Science will declare God aright, and Christianity will demonstrate this declaration and 30its divine Principle, making mankind better physically, morally, and spiritually.

  5. SH 494:5

Is it not a species of infidelity to believe that so great 6a work as the Messiah’s was done for himself or for God, Inexhaustible divine Lovewho needed no help from Jesus’ example to preserve the eternal harmony? But mortals 9did need this help, and Jesus pointed the way for them. Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need. It is not well to imagine that Jesus demon-12strated the divine power to heal only for a select number or for a limited period of time, since to all mankind and in every hour, divine Love supplies all good.

  6. SH 570:14-18, 23-24

Millions of unprejudiced minds — simple seekers for 15Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert — are wait-Receptive heartsing and watching for rest and drink. Give them a cup of cold water in Christ’s name, 18and never fear the consequences. ... Those ready for the blessing 24you impart will give thanks.

  7. SH 232:16-19

In our age Christianity is again demonstrating the power of divine Principle, as it did over nineteen hun-18dred years ago, by healing the sick and triumphing over death.

  8. SH 102:31-2

Christian Science despoils the kingdom of evil, and pre-eminently 103 103:1promotes affection and virtue in families and therefore in the community.

  9. SH 61:4-6

The good in human affections must have ascendency over the evil and the spiritual over the animal, or happi-6Ascendency of goodness will never be won.

  10. SH 57:22-24

Human affection is not poured forth vainly, even though it meet no return. Love enriches the nature, en-24Help and disciplinelarging, purifying, and elevating it.

  11. SH 265:5

Mortals must gravitate Godward, 6their affections and aims grow spiritual, — they must near the broader interpretations of being, and gain some proper sense of the infinite, — in order that sin and mortality 9may be put off.

  12. SH 571:15

At all times and under all circumstances, overcome evil with good. Know thyself, and God will supply The armor of divinitythe wisdom and the occasion for a victory 18over evil. Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you. The cement of a higher humanity will unite all interests in the one 21divinity.

  13. SH 371:26-30

Mankind will improve through Science and Christi-27anity. The necessity for uplifting the race is father to the fact that Mind can do it; for Mind can impart purity instead of impurity, strength instead of weak-30ness, and health instead of disease.

  14. SH 323:19-24, 28-32

When the sick or the sinning awake to realize their need of what they have not, they will be receptive of divine 21Science, which gravitates towards Soul and away from material sense, removes thought from the body, and ele-vates even mortal mind to the contemplation of some-24thing better than disease or sin.

The effects of Christian Science are not so much seen Childlike receptivityas felt. It is the “still, small voice” of Truth 30 uttering itself. We are either turning away from this utterance, or we are listening to it and going up higher.

  15. SH 518:15-19

The rich in spirit help the poor in one grand brotherhood, all having the same Principle, or Father; and blessed is that man who seeth 18his brother’s need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another’s good.

  16. SH 51:28 (only)

        Jesus was unselfish.

  17. SH 54:1-4, 8 (only)

Through the magnitude of his human life, he demonstrated the divine 3Life. Out of the amplitude of his pure affection, he de-fined Love.

Who is ready to follow his teaching and example?
