    the body is of Christ.

  2. Eph. 4:4

    4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

  3. Rom. 8:23 we

we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

  4. I Cor. 9:27 I (to :)

I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection:

  5. II Cor. 5:6 we, 8

we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

... 8We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

  6. I Thess. 5:23 I

I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  7. Luke 8:40-56 when (to :)

when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

41And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus’ feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:

42For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a-dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

43And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

44Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

49While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

50But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

51And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

52And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.

53And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

54And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.

55And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

    56And her parents were astonished:

  8. Matt. 12:10-13 there, 22-29

there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

11And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

12How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

13Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

22Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

23And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

24But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

25And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

26And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

27And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.

28But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

29Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 399:29

Our Master asked: “How can one enter into a strong 30Confirmation in a parableman’s house and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man?” In other words: How can I heal the body, without beginning with so-called 400 400:1mortal mind, which directly controls the body? When disease is once destroyed in this so-called mind, the fear 3of disease is gone, and therefore the disease is thor-oughly cured. Mortal mind is “the strong man,” which must be held in subjection before its influence upon health 6and morals can be removed. This error conquered, we can despoil “the strong man” of his goods, — namely, of sin and disease.

  2. SH 209:8

The 9material and mortal body or mind is not the man.

  3. SH 416:16-20

The material body, which you call me, is mortal mind, and this mind is material in sensation, even as the body, 18The so-called physical egowhich has originated from this material sense and been developed according to it, is mate-rial.

  4. SH 208:25-29 A

A material body only expresses a material and mortal mind. A mortal 27Sickness as only thoughtman possesses this body, and he makes it harmonious or discordant according to the images of thought impressed upon it.

  5. SH 415:17

Note how thought makes the face pallid. It either re-18tards the circulation or quickens it, causing a pale or Truth calms the thoughtflushed cheek. In the same way thought in-creases or diminishes the secretions, the action 21of the lungs, of the bowels, and of the heart. The mus-cles, moving quickly or slowly and impelled or palsied by thought, represent the action of all the organs of the hu-24man system, including brain and viscera. To remove the error producing disorder, you must calm and instruct mortal mind with immortal Truth.

  6. SH 383:5

One says: “I take good care of my body.” 6To do this, the pure and exalting influence of the divine Mind on the body is requisite, and the Christian Scientist takes the best care of his body when he leaves 9it most out of his thought, and, like the Apostle Paul, is “willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be pres-ent with the Lord.”

  7. SH 228:20

If we follow the command of our Master, “Take no 21thought for your life,” we shall never depend on bodily conditions, structure, or economy, but we shall be masters of the body, dictate its terms, and form and control it with 24Truth.

  8. SH 167:26-28

The scientific government of the 27body must be attained through the divine Mind. It is im-possible to gain control over the body in any other way.

  9. SH 220:30

Mortal mind forms all conditions of the mortal body, and controls the stomach, bones, lungs, heart, blood, etc., as directly as the volition or will moves the hand.

  10. SH 411:23

Disease is an image of thought externalized. 24The mental state is called a material state. Whatever is cherished in mortal mind as the physical condition is imaged forth on the body.

  11. SH 219:11-15

Not muscles, nerves, nor bones, but mortal mind makes 12the whole body “sick, and the whole heart faint;” whereas divine Mind heals.

When this is understood, we shall never affirm concern-15ing the body what we do not wish to have manifested.

  12. SH 242:6

Denial of the claims of matter is a great step towards the joys of Spirit, towards human freedom and the final triumph over the body.

  13. SH 384:9

If man seems to incur the penalty through matter, this is but a belief of mortal mind, not an enactment of wisdom, and man has only to enter his 12protest against this belief in order to annul it. Through this action of thought and its results upon the body, the student will prove to himself, by small beginnings, the 15grand verities of Christian Science.

  14. SH 412:23

Mentally insist that harmony is the fact, and 24that sickness is a temporal dream. Realize the presence of health and the fact of harmonious being, until the body corresponds with the normal conditions of health 27and harmony.

  15. SH 420:17

The fact that Truth overcomes both disease 18and sin reassures depressed hope. It imparts a healthy stimulus to the body, and regulates the system. It in-creases or diminishes the action, as the case may require, 21better than any drug, alterative, or tonic.

  16. SH 391:29-2

Mentally contradict every complaint from the body, 30Sin to be overcomeand rise to the true consciousness of Life as Love, — as all that is pure, and bearing the fruits of Spirit. Fear is the fountain of sickness, 392 392:1and you master fear and sin through divine Mind; hence it is through divine Mind that you overcome disease.

  17. SH 392:8-15, 22, 24-27 Stand, 31

The only course is to 9take antagonistic grounds against all that is opposed to the health, holiness, and harmony of man, God’s image.

The physical affirmation of disease should always be 12met with the mental negation. Whatever benefit is pro-Illusions about nervesduced on the body, must be expressed men-tally, and thought should be held fast to this 15ideal. Your decisions will mas-ter you, whichever direction they take.

Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in Guarding the doorbodily results, you will control yourself har-27moniously. ... Exclude from mortal mind the offending errors; then the body cannot suffer from them. The issues of pain or 393 393:1pleasure must come through mind, and like a watchman forsaking his post, we admit the intruding belief, forget-3ting that through divine help we can forbid this entrance.

  18. SH 393:8-18

Mind is the 9master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death. Exercise this God-given authority. Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. 12Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on 15man.

Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God’s govern-18No pain in matterment.

  19. SH 425:23

Consciousness constructs a better body when 24faith in matter has been conquered. Correct material belief by spiritual understanding, and Spirit will form you anew. You will never fear again except to offend 27God, and you will never believe that heart or any por-tion of the body can destroy you.
