2When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice:
- Mark 1:14-28 Jesus, 32-42
Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
16Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
17And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
18And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.
19And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
20And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.
21And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
22And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
23And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
24Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
26And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
27And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
28And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.
... 32And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
33And all the city was gathered together at the door.
34And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
35And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
36And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
37And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
38And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
39And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
40And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
41And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
42And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
- Luke 9:1, 2
1Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
2And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
- Luke 7:1-16
1Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
3And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
6Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
7Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
8For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
9When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
11¶ And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
12Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
13And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
16And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
- Matt. 7:28 the, 29
the people were astonished at his doctrine:
29For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Mind is the 9master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death. Exercise this God-given authority. Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. 12Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on 15man.
Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God’s govern-18No pain in matterment.
- SH 390:20
Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon 21the thought. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin. You have no 24law of His to support the necessity either of sin or sick-ness, but you have divine authority for denying that neces-sity and healing the sick.
- SH 14:25
- SH 26:10-16
The Christ was the Spirit which Jesus implied in his own statements: “I am the way, the truth, and the life;” 12Christ’s demonstration“I and my Father are one.” This Christ, or divinity of the man Jesus, was his divine nature, the godliness which animated him. Divine Truth, 15Life, and Love gave Jesus authority over sin, sickness, and death.
- SH 168:15
Because man-made systems insist that man becomes sick and useless, suffers and dies, all in consonance with The divine authoritythe laws of God, are we to believe it? Are 18we to believe an authority which denies God’s spiritual command relating to perfection, — an authority which Jesus proved to be false? He did the will of the 21Father. He healed sickness in defiance of what is called material law, but in accordance with God’s law, the law of Mind.
- SH 126:22
I have set forth Christian Science and its application to the treatment of disease just as I have discovered them. 24Biblical basisI have demonstrated through Mind the effects of Truth on the health, longevity, and morals of men; and I have found nothing in ancient or in modern 27systems on which to found my own, except the teachings and demonstrations of our great Master and the lives of prophets and apostles. The Bible has been my only au-30thority. I have had no other guide in “the straight and narrow way” of Truth.
- SH 208:5
The Scriptures say, “In Him we live, and move, and 6have our being.” What then is this seeming power, in-Seemingly independent authoritydependent of God, which causes disease and cures it? What is it but an error of belief, — 9a law of mortal mind, wrong in every sense, embracing sin, sickness, and death? It is the very anti-pode of immortal Mind, of Truth, and of spiritual law. 12It is not in accordance with the goodness of God’s char-acter that He should make man sick, then leave man to heal himself; it is absurd to suppose that matter can both 15cause and cure disease, or that Spirit, God, produces disease and leaves the remedy to matter.

If mankind would relinquish the belief that God makes sickness, sin, and death, or makes man capable of suffering on account of this malevolent triad, 12the foundations of error would be sapped and error’s de-struction ensured; but if we theoretically endow mortals with the creativeness and authority of Deity, how dare we 15attempt to destroy what He hath made, or even to deny that God made man evil and made evil good?
History teaches that the popular and false notions 18about the Divine Being and character have originated Anthropomorphismin the human mind. As there is in reality but one God, one Mind, wrong notions about God 21must have originated in a false supposition, not in im-mortal Truth, and they are fading out.
If what opposes God is real, there must be two powers, and God is not supreme and infinite. Can 27One supremacyDeity be almighty, if another mighty and self-creative cause exists and sways man-kind?
- SH 381:28-4
It is man’s moral right to annul an unjust sentence, a sentence never 30inflicted by divine authority.
Christ Jesus overruled the error which would impose penalties for transgressions of the physical laws of 382 382:1health; he annulled supposed laws of matter, opposed Begin rightlyto the harmonies of Spirit, lacking divine au-3thority and having only human approval for their sanction.
