The Bible
  1. Rom. 10:8 The

    The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

  2. Acts 8:25

    25And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

  3. Acts 12:24 the

    the word of God grew and multiplied.

  4. Acts 13:2-5 (to :), 15, 16, 42-44, 47-49 the, 52

    2As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

    3And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

    4So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

    5And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews:

    15And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

    16Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

    42And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

    43Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

    44And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

    the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

    48And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

    49And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

    ... 52And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

  5. Acts 16:5

    5And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

  6. Acts 17:1-4, 16, 22-28

    1Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

    2And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

    3Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

    4And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

    16Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.

    22Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

    23For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

    24God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

    25Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

    26And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

    27That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

    28For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

  7. Acts 19:1 (to :), 8, 10, 20

    1And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus:

    ... 8And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

    ... 10And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

    20So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

  8. Eph. 3:17-19 Christ

    Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

    18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

    19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 324:19-31

        Paul was not at first a disciple of Jesus but a perse-cutor of Jesus’ followers. When the truth first appeared 21Paul’s enlightenmentto him in Science, Paul was made blind, and his blindness was felt; but spiritual light soon enabled him to follow the example and teach-24ings of Jesus, healing the sick and preaching Christian-ity throughout Asia Minor, Greece, and even in imperial Rome.

    27    Paul writes, “If Christ [Truth] be not risen, then is our preaching vain.” That is, if the idea of the suprem-acy of Spirit, which is the true conception of being, 30come not to your thought, you cannot be benefited by what I say.

  2. SH 201:1-3

    The best sermon ever preached is Truth practised and demonstrated by the destruction of sin, sickness, 3Practical preachingand death.

  3. SH 345:7

    When the omnipotence of God is preached and His ab-soluteness is set forth, Christian sermons will heal the 9sick.

  4. SH 241:17

    The error of the ages is preaching without 18practice.

  5. SH 30:30-1

    We cannot choose for ourselves, but must work out our salvation in the way Jesus taught. In meekness and might, he was found 31 31:1preaching the gospel to the poor.

  6. SH 138:17-22, 25-2

        Jesus established in the Christian era the precedent for 18all Christianity, theology, and healing. Christians are New era in Jesusunder as direct orders now, as they were then, to be Christlike, to possess the Christ-spirit, to 21follow the Christ-example, and to heal the sick as well as the sinning. ... The Christian can prove this to-day as readily as it was proved centuries ago.

    27    Our Master said to every follower: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature! . . . Healthful theologyHeal the sick! . . . Love thy neighbor as 30thyself!” It was this theology of Jesus which healed the sick and the sinning. It is his theology in this book and the spiritual meaning of this theology, which 139 139:1heals the sick and causes the wicked to “forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts.”

  7. SH xi:9

        The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus’ time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their real-12ity in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation. Now, as then, these mighty works 15are not supernatural, but supremely natural. They are the sign of Immanuel, or “God with us,” — a divine influence ever present in human consciousness and re-18peating itself, coming now as was promised aforetime, To preach deliverance to the captives [of sense], And recovering of sight to the blind, 21To set at liberty them that are bruised.

  8. SH 37:16-4

        When will Jesus’ professed followers learn to emulate him in all his ways and to imitate his mighty works? 18Complete emulationThose who procured the martyrdom of that righteous man would gladly have turned his sacred career into a mutilated doctrinal platform. May 21the Christians of to-day take up the more practical im-port of that career! It is possible, — yea, it is the duty and privilege of every child, man, and woman, — to follow 24in some degree the example of the Master by the demon-stration of Truth and Life, of health and holiness. Chris-tians claim to be his followers, but do they follow him in 27the way that he commanded? Hear these imperative com-mands : “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect!” “Go ye into all the world, 30and preach the gospel to every creature!” Heal the sick!

        Why has this Christian demand so little inspiration 38 38:1to stir mankind to Christian effort? Because men are assured that this command was intended only for a par-3Jesus’ teaching belittledticular period and for a select number of fol-lowers.

  9. SH 55:8-16, 22

    Now 9that the gospel of healing is again preached by the wayside, does not the pulpit sometimes scorn it? But that curative mission, which presents the Saviour in a 12clearer light than mere words can possibly do, cannot be left out of Christianity, although it is again ruled out of the synagogue.

    15    Truth’s immortal idea is sweeping down the centuries, gathering beneath its wings the sick and sinning. The time for the reappearing of the divine healing is throughout all time; and whosoever layeth his earthly 24all on the altar of divine Science, drinketh of Christ’s cup now, and is endued with the spirit and power of Christian healing.

  10. SH 347:14

    Christ, as the spir-15itual or true idea of God, comes now as of old, preaching the gospel to the poor, heal-ing the sick, and casting out evils. Is it error which 18is restoring an essential element of Christianity, — namely, apostolic, divine healing? No; it is the Science of Christianity which is restoring it, and is the light 21shining in darkness, which the darkness comprehends not.

  11. SH 271:21-22, 30-5

    When the Science of Christianity New Testament basisappears, it will lead you into all truth.

    The spiritual import of the Word imparts this power. But, as Paul says, “How shall they hear without a preacher? and how shall they preach, except they be 272 272:1sent?” If sent, how shall they preach, convert, and heal multitudes, except the people hear?

    3    The spiritual sense of truth must be gained before Truth can be understood. This sense is assimilated only Spirituality of Scriptureas we are honest, unselfish, loving, and meek.

  12. SH 344:19

        There are various methods of treating disease, which are not included in the commonly accepted systems; but 21The one divine methodthere is only one which should be presented to the whole world, and that is the Christian Science which Jesus preached and practised and left to us 24as his rich legacy.
