Wednesday Meeting Readings
- Ps. 60:2 (to 1st ;)
2Thou hast made the earth to tremble;
- Ps. 114:4, 7
4The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.
... 7Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
- Ps. 18:7 the (to ;), 19, 27 thou (to ;), 32, 36, 46
the earth shook and trembled;
... 19He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
... thou wilt save the afflicted people;
... 32It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
... 36Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
... 46The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
- Matt. 27:1 all, 2, 11 (to :), 12-14, 22, 24 (to :), 26 and, 35 (to :), 45, 46, 50, 51, 54, 55
all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
2And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
11And Jesus stood before the governor:
... 12And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
13Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
14And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
22Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
24¶ When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person:
and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
35And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots:
45Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
46And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
50¶ Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
... 54Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
55And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
- Matt. 28:1, 2, 5, 6 (to 1st .), 7 (to 1st ;), 8
1In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
... 5And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
... 7And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead;
... 8And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
- Acts 16:16-20 it, 23, 25, 26
it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
19¶ And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,
20And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,
23And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely:
25¶ And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
- Phil. 2:12 work, 13
work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

There is no vapid fury of mortal mind — expressed in earthquake, wind, wave, lightning, fire, bestial ferocity The counterfeit forces— and this so-called mind is self-destroyed. 24The manifestations of evil, which counterfeit divine justice, are called in the Scriptures, “The anger of the Lord.” In reality, they show the self-destruction 27of error or matter and point to matter’s opposite, the strength and permanency of Spirit. Christian Science brings to light Truth and its supremacy, universal har-30mony, the entireness of God, good, and the nothingness of evil.

In proportion as matter loses to human sense all en-6tity as man, in that proportion does man become its Man’s entitymaster. He enters into a diviner sense of the facts, and comprehends the theology of Jesus 9as demonstrated in healing the sick, raising the dead, and walking over the wave. All these deeds manifested Jesus’ control over the belief that matter is substance, 12that it can be the arbiter of life or the constructor of any form of existence.

Life is, always A mortal not manhas been, and ever will be independent of matter; for Life is God, and man is the idea 12of God, not formed materially but spiritually, and not subject to decay and dust. The Psalmist said: “Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy 15 hands. Thou hast put all things under his feet.”
- SH 202:15
Outside of this Science all is mutable; but immortal man, in accord with the divine Principle of his being, Harmonious life-workGod, neither sins, suffers, nor dies. The days 18of our pilgrimage will multiply instead of di-minish, when God’s kingdom comes on earth; for the true way leads to Life instead of to death, and earthly 21experience discloses the finity of error and the infinite capacities of Truth, in which God gives man dominion over all the earth.
