The name Church of Christ, Scientist was given by Mary Baker Eddy to the church organization that she founded to nurture and promote her discovery of Christian Science.
Christian Science is the system of practical, spiritual healing and
living found in the Bible, as demonstrated by Christ Jesus and many others,
and available to us today. It was discovered by Mary Baker Eddy, and is
fully explained in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. The web site ChristianScience.com has many ways to explore this topic. 
Is Christian Science truly Christian?
The works of Christ Jesus provided the inspiration for Mrs. Eddy's discovery of Christian Science. The teachings of Jesus, such as in his Sermon on the Mount, are the foundation of Christian Practice as found in Christian Science.
Where can I find a Christian Science practitioner to assist me in healing?
A directory of Christian Science practitioners is in every issue of The Christian Science Journal, published monthly. There is also an on-line directory provided by The Christian Science Publishing Society. These directories include Christian Science Practitioners, Teachers, and Nurses. You may also find practitioners listed in the yellow pages of your local telephone directory under the heading Christian Science.
Is Christian Science the same as Scientology?
No, they are completely unrelated to each other. Scientology was established by L. Ron Hubbard in 1950. Christian Science was discovered by Mary Baker Eddy in 1866.
